Commissionaires on Duty at the Saanich Jail
Commissionaires Victoria provides the personnel who are responsible for the oversight of the prisoners held for short term in the cells of Saanich gaol. The duties include the documenting of the prisoners enter and exit from the cells, retaining, listing and storing their personal effects, and most importantly the monitoring of the prisoners for the entire time the prisoners occupy the cells. The commissionaire on watch is the First Aid Attendant for the cell occupants and the entire police station and thereby is responsible for the health and safety of the prisoners in charge. In addition, the Commissionaire is responsible for the fingerprinting of all prisoners and any civilians applying for criminal history check, visas, pardons or applications of various sorts.
